Bernsdorf, DesLauriers named to Prairie Business 40 Under 40

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University alumni Tawnya Bernsdorf and Brock DesLauriers were both named to the annual Prairie Business 40 Under 40 list, featuring 40 of the top business professions under the age of 40 in the northern plains.

The selected individuals were featured in the December issue of the magazine.

Bernsdorf is currently an instructor in the Minot State University College of Business. She started as an adjunct instructor, before becoming a full-time instructor in the fall of 2016. She received a BS in Marketing and a BS in Management from Minot State University in 2004 and a MS in Management from Minot State University in 2008.

"I was both excited and humbled to receive the distinction of being named a part of this year's 40 under 40 list,” Bernsdorf said. “Helping the community I live in is something I enjoy wholeheartedly and giving 110 percent is something I strive for in everything that I do. I am truly grateful for this honor and would be remiss to not thank all of the people who have helped guide me along my way, it is because of family, friends, and mentors that have helped shape me into the person I am today."

Bernsdorf was co-chair of the Community Links Committee with the Young Professionals group for five years. Currently she sits on the Athletic Advisory Council for Minot State University, the Souris Valley United Way board, the MSU Beaver Hockey Board of Directors and is also an involved member of Sertoma.

DesLauriers is the vice president and North Hill Branch manager at First International Bank & Trust. As a commercial loan officer he is able to work with business professionals in the Minot area to help them achieve their financial goals.

“Honestly the best thing about winning this award is just seeing the other people you are sharing this honor with,” DesLauriers said. “It was really neat to see two other people from Minot be selected to the list as well. I’m not sure if I’m in the same caliber of any of the other people on the list but it’s very humbling to think that someone within our organization thinks that I am.  I’ve been lucky enough to work for a bank that has been around for over 100 years with one family maintaining ownership through its entire history. By being well rounded in banking, it has given me the tools necessary to lead a branch. Being a part of First International Bank also means being an active member of the community. It is great to see customers when you are out volunteering or cheering on one of our local teams.”

DesLauriers has served as branch manager at the North Hill location since it opened in March 2015. He serves as president of the Minot Sertoma Club, is a Minot State Beaver Booster Board Member, a Minot Country Club Board Member, and a Junior Achievement instructor.
